Praça da Alfândega

Praça da Alfândega, former known as Senador Florêncio Square, is a public, historic and tourist space in the Brazilian city of Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Located in the historic center of the city, the square is surrounded by important buildings, some of them equally historic and old, such as the Rio Grande do Sul Ado Museum (MARGS), the Rio Grande do Sul Memorial, the Santander Cultural and the Porto Alegre Trade Club. Other buildings include the offices of Banrisul and Caixa Econômica Federal and Rua da Praia Shopping.
Also in Praça da Alfândega, traditionally every year since 1955, it’s held the Book Fair of Porto Alegre, attracting thousands of visitors not only by the wide range of books, but also by the music, theater and dance shows.
